I have lived in Whitstable for over forty years and have a varied work history including retail, partner in an accountancy practice, and since 2007 I have been working in mental health. I have two children who are the most important people in my life. We enjoy freshwater fishing, which I have been passionate about since the age of 6, swimming, cycling, walking, camping, playing board games and going to rally cross, we also enjoy going to visit attractions in London and have been to the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, V and A, London Eye, Palace of Westminster and lots of others. I also enjoy an evening at the pub with my best friend, I was a keen motorcyclist and volunteered as a motorcycle instructor for a number of years and enjoy driving, woodturning and furniture making for which I gained an HND pass in 2007. I have always been a practical person and like being around and helping people.
Some of the things people have said about me; caring and capable, friendly, helpful, shows an interest, questioning, kind, fun, non-judgemental, open and positive. I also have my own lived mental health experience. I am one of the facilitators of the Canterbury Bi Polar Self Help Group and I am a trustee for Canterbury and District Mental Health Forum.
From 2007 to 2010 I worked for Shaw Trust (mental health charity) as a project officer in the Ashford Vocational Centre.
I am now self-employed working within mental health, currently working for Canterbury and District Mental Health Forum; I sit on the Council for East Kent User Forums and I am now working as an Independent Support Broker.
I may be available to work outside of the named geographical areas, just give me a call to discuss your needs.
