People want to be in control of their lives and make choices about the support they receive.
Some people with mental health issues are eligible for support with their social care needs from social services. In Kent and Medway, this is offered through the local mental health trust - Kent and Medway Partnership Trust (KMPT). Most people who are entitled to support with their social care needs will be offered a personal budget.
To find out if you might be able to get a personal budget click here to go to our new section - 'Can I get a personal budget?' .
In order to receive a personal budget, a support plan has to be prepared and approved. There are a number of tools to help people put together a support plan and think about the changes they want to make in their lives. You can find information about the tools available in our section 'Plan for a better life'.
A support broker is someone who has been trained to help you put together your support plan. Our 'What is a broker?' section tells you more about the support broker role.
